Peer Volunteers

Peer Volunteer Program:

Does your child like making new friends? Would you say your child is naturally “social”? Does your child like helping others? If so, we would love for him/her to volunteer as a Peer! ASG utilizes Peers in our Social Skills therapy groups. Peers provide modeling of new skills that our clients are learning, and a safe, natural, and comfortable environment for our clients to practice their emerging skills. During therapy sessions, your child will be playing games, making crafts, practicing conversations, earning prizes and having fun, all while not even realizing that they are giving back to the community, learning empathy, building their own leadership skills, and making new friends! Whether your child can make an ongoing, weekly commitment to volunteer, or is only available for certain parts of the year, we work with changing schedules! We are looking for volunteers at all of our clinic locations: Lombard, Normal, Peoria, Springfield, Washington, IL and Farmers Branch, TX. Peers are paired with clients based upon age and developmental level, so volunteers of all ages are needed (typically 4-17).

Although every client's treatment plan is unique, here is a list of common skill areas targeted in Social Skills Therapy:
